A first look at the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (running on my Mac) reveals a complete redesign of the Windows GUI introducing a more “tablet” style design with the Window Metro interface becoming a new Home launchpad for apps and other tools.
But what about Magento, will customers running Internet Explorer 10 which is bundled with Windows 8 be able to access your Magento store?
My first test with Magento 1.6.2 looked good until it came to the checkout and a problem completing the one page checkout process was apparent whereby I could not progress through the steps required to complete checkout.
The fix was to ensure the compatibility meta tag was present, the same fix for Internet Explorer 9 problems.
After implementing the tag in my head.phtml template file I refreshed the page and was able to complete checkout and place an order in my demo store.
